While online travel and classifieds grabbed the prime slots on the internet in India during the first decade of this century, in the present scenario the e-retailing has been hogging the limelight. The broadband and mobile penetration, smartphones and tablets 3G roll out, cash on delivery, internet banking have further boosted online transactions which in turn is expected to cross the figure of Rs.10,000 crore by the end of 2015.
Thus India has emerged as a fertile ground for e-retailing companies. A new term e-tailing also has been coined. These were the observations of a survey conducted by an international market monitoring and analysis agency in 2011. The findings revealed that computer peripherals, camera and mobile sets and life style segments did hold the first three positions, accounting for more than 70% of total market share.
The success of e-retailing is attributed to top digital marketing agencies in India like the Delhi NCR based Sterco Digitex. They ensure that an e-retailer gains the best possible leverage through services of optimization in the spectrum of digital marketing. Such services offered by them range from the decisive SEO and SMO to appropriately programmed visuals including promotional video productions.
Reportedly, 25 players specializing in digital marketing were featured in June, 2014 on a web portal. It also noted that every prominent online marketing agency in Delhi NCR has been a boon for e-commerce companies in making their presence felt in the highly competitive trading.
As compared to the scenario of previous decade, the trends have changed in 2015 with the merchandise of cameras and mobile sets hopping to the first position followed by life-style and personal care needs in the second slot. Books and publications, domestic and kitchen appliances and electronic gadgets are some of the widely items traded online. Even footwear seem to be selling like hotcakes in online deals as evident from manufacturers like Lakhani and Liberty having exclusive e-counters on their websites to market their pairs.
